From the time I could write sentences, I knew I wanted to be a writer. Like most people though, life happens. But it’s true what they say… what’s meant to be will always find a way.

Fresh out of high school, I became a teen mom forced to find a way to make a living. I started my working career in the restaurant industry waiting tables. After 5 years, I grew tired of the long nights, double shifts, and relying on the generosity of tips. I was ready for a career change.

I searched endlessly for a job in the corporate world, but after one look at my resume, no one wanted to give me a chance. I had to do something different to be seen beyond my ability to carry a 50 lb. tray of food and drinks.

That’s when I discovered functional resumes. I created a new resume that focused on my transferable skills, rather than my work experience. That changed everything for me and I finally landed my first 9 to 5.

It was at that moment I realized the power of using the right words.

From there, my childhood passion for becoming a writer began to drift back to me. Over the course of 6 years, I found myself searching for any way to incorporate writing into my day. I started a Motherhood Lifestyle Blog and began integrating writing into my career in the Talent & Recruiting industry. In between all of that, other people began to notice my writing skills too. Friends, family members, and even strangers were constantly asking me to help them with their writing needs.

From resumes, biographies, articles, interviews, blog posts, research papers, social media posts, email communications & templates… I’ve done it all. Successfully.

It’s funny how the world will tell you what it needs from you. You just have to pay attention and listen.

It dawned on me that I not only had talent, but a passion. Writing was more than just something I enjoyed doing. Every time I would complete a writing project, I would get an overwhelming feeling of joy. I genuinely loved helping others put what they wanted to stay into words. Writing became my fuel.

So here I am today, turning my hobby into a profitable side hustle. My goal is to help individuals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses create written content that gets them noticed. Aerica Writes is going places, and with my help, your brand will too!
